This shoot has been a long time coming on the blog but we are finally here.
The shoot came about through a late night chat with some super creative people. We knew we wanted to do something creative and collaborate with some other fantastic creatives so we decided on a Marie Antoinette theme with a twist. We wanted to go creative, colourful but in a different way. So we took elements of the typical Antoinette style, food being the main one!
So we brought Nic Dowey from Baked Blessings NI on board – her work is crazy good and she knows exactly how to create the perfect feature for anything (wedding, creative shoot, birthdays, parties, seriously anything!) She came with 2 cakes which were absolute works of art – See below! Also the Meringue kisses and cupcakes in these photos are to die for. Seriously.
We had Natalie McKee MUA come on board with styling and planning and she created perfect makeup looks that totally complimented the outfit changes. She worked with us before on our Cherokee Warrior shoot – the girl knows makeup! Honestly if you need makeup for a night out or a shoot get her involved you won’t be sorry.
We also had the lovely Sonya from Hair Candy in Moira who created some of the most beautiful hair I’ve seen. Sasha has a LOT of hair and Sonya painstakingly worked at it and styled it perfectly with fresh flowers. She also brought us back to the 90’s using crimpers! Definitely worth getting involved with this woman she works magic!
My lovely sister ordered the outfits and arranged everything on that side – I keep telling her she should go into styling as she is fantastic at bringing everything together and creating looks.
The title came from a conversation I had with Nic one evening and she had found a site attributing the saying ‘let us eat cake’ to Marie Antoinette herself (though not factually sound) and it just fits. The story being told is one of breaking free, breaking free from what is expected and laid upon you, allowing yourself to become a brighter, happier version. To become who you are. As you see the photos transition you will see her come alive and eventually escape the constrains of the walls around her.
Oh and the location – Brownlow House was perfect for this shoot – we can’t thank the staff enough for putting up with us!
